Introduction
Providing students with access to opportunities outside of the classroom is an essential task often overlooked by educators and administrators alike. Educators must constantly provide opportunities and resources to students and families that open doors to extended learning, college preparation, and career readiness. However, it is important to first analyze students' needs, and then find and share resources that respond to those needs. Every educational institution has a different context, and educators must consider that context when they connect students and families to resources that match their specific needs. For this reason, providing access is an intimate and constantly evolving process.
This portion of my professional portfolio is a collection of evidence describing how I increased access to learning and community-based opportunities for my students. The focus of my efforts to increase student access are extension of learning. The following resources and projects are access opportunities I have researched specifically for students in my Spanish Two and Three high school-level classes. For each opportunity, I have taken the time to consider students' needs and ways that I can best extend their learning that would not otherwise be available to them.

"The focus of my efforts to increase student access are extension of learning."
As I mentioned in the introduction to this section, providing access is a constantly evolving process given the demonstrated needs of students in any given institution. For this reason, I am in ongoing development of access opportunities for my students. Many of the activities included in this submission are either in-progress or are future projects, and student work samples and reflections will be added as they are available. However, the work to increase student access that I describe in this section demonstrates my sensitivity to the needs and interests of my students as I seek to create increased opportunities that are not regionally obvious or readily available to students.
Access to ArtIn this first example, students engage in an international art exchange to increase their communicative competency, cultural awareness, and proficiency.

Access to ExtensionIn this second example, I engage students and families in bilateral communication on student learning goals and opportunities for extended learning outside of the classroom.
