Testimonials
"In my capacity as an educator at the K-12 and college level, I have needed the services of an educated and experienced consultant from time to time in order to proceed with a class or a project. Joseph Pearson has provided me with his expertise on more than a few occasions, giving me the benefit of his objectivity in teaching a lesson, approaching a difficult teaching situation, or helping me to solve a problem for which I could find no solution. His assistance has been invaluable, always fast and effective, and I never hesitate to call upon his years of experience and education when I find myself in such need. In difficult teaching situations where I am at a loss for direction, he is able to objectively look at my situation and formulate a solution that I could not see for myself. On a recent occasion, I was facing a difficult class of adult learners, could not determine if the problem was the individual students or the subject matter I was teaching. Joseph was able to outline a plan to approach and solve the problem, facing both prospects, and he came up with this plan in less than 20 minutes, all told. I highly recommend his services, and I am certain I will use him again in the future."

"In our time together at Guajome Park Academy Joey Pearson and attended several Professional Development sessions together. We were able to collaborate regarding student academic progress/success, new forms of grading, classroom management, and much more. One of the most influential sessions for me was one Mr. Pearson developed and taught himself. He had put together an after school program “Teachers Teaching Teachers” and invited anyone who wanted to attend. One session we were talking about providing instructions in the most direct way, with as little talking as possible; simple to the point instruction. We paired up and discussed what we would do: limiting our words, hitting key points, trusting students would use prior knowledge, making sure they were going to be successful, and so on. After discussing Mr. Pearson made us put it into practice “role play” right there with our peers. I loved that he did not make this an option for us, because as adults we will just take the notes, and leave the PD with a bunch of papers that we may only look at one or two more times in our career, if at all. I remember my instructions that I gave and I remember the feedback I got from my peers! It is something I will always remember and I put it into practice regularly while in my classroom."

I had the privilege of meeting and working with Joseph as my instructional coach with DC Teaching Fellows. As an instructional coach, Joseph worked exclusively one-on-one with his teachers who identified needs and collectively in whole group rigorous training sessions. Mr. Pearson possesses a vast storage of knowledge regarding the science of teaching. Under is instructional guidance whether you’re a veteran or newer teacher, when you leave, some of that knowledge inevitably leaves with you. Mr. Pearson knew firsthand about the needs of students and could quickly assist with tailoring activities or suggesting resources to meet the needs of students. His coaching and leadership style is innovative and relatable. He can quickly customize solutions when his teachers were struggling to assist their students or any other instructional problems. Under his leadership I was successfully able to complete my fellowship program and have taken the teaching strategies learned to become a teacher for change in DC public schools.
