Queridos alumnos,
Please use the following Can-Do statements to guide your reflection on your growth in unit two. As with unit one, select five from the list below and begin to describe your growth within your digital portfolio file. Compile evidence from your Unit Two work and assessments, using photos and videos as necessary. If you did not finish Unit One, please do not spend time now completing Unit One. Rather, spend your time working on Unit Two and come back to Unit One on your own time. Remember that this is a very large and complicated assignment that will last all year long. Make sure you spend your time wisely now working on this in order to not fall behind. Can-Do Statements (VHL):

In preparation for your final assessment, you will practice the skills you will need to be successful. There are 3 activities options for this weekend's homework. You are responsible for turning in one for on Monday. If you complete the two others, extra credit is offered for each for double the points.
Hola chicos,
Profe Pearson
How will you be evaluated? Your presentation video will be graded based on the updated workstation rubric. Because we use this rubric so often, I have renamed it as "Collaborative Work Rubric." View this rubric below.
Great job working and improving your collaboration in our work in los talleres. I continue to see you grow and improve in your communication skills in Spanish and in your mindsets. As we continue to improve our talleres and the ways we use our time to learn and grow, it's important to reflect. In my own reflection, I noticed that our rubric for talleres did not fully capture the excellent work and collaboration you all do each and every day. I have updated our Workstation Rubric, and have attached that document to this post. Be sure to download the new Workstation Rubric! In order to help you reflect on your growth and engage in "Thinking about our thinking (metacognition)" from our habits and mindsets assignment, you will complete a self-evaluation for your work on this week's workstations. Respond to the questions below in English or Spanish, referencing both the physical evidence in your work and the ways you worked with your peers:
Finally, consider how you can study one concept you learned in Spanish class this week. It may be comparisons or new vocabulary. Take 5 minutes and review that work or memorize vocabulary.
Buenos días chicos, I am writing to remind you that you food diary is due tomorrow. Remember that homework and class preparation work are two different things: Homework is practice meant to stay outside of class. Class preparation work is an opportunity for you to get ready for an activity or assessment in class. For block day on October 4th, you will need access to your class preparation work on this food diary for both an assessment and a project. Please download and complete the food diary linked below. If you do not have a printer, please copy down the format exactly with all of the tables and titles. Second, please comment your response to the following question from class today: ¿Quién es más saludable, Ana o Andrea? ¿Por qué? Finally, I notice that some students have submitted their work on their digital portfolio. Please do not submit the portfolio, as you are going to continue working on it all year long. If you submitted, please un-submit it. Because the document is a template I created on Google Classroom, I can see your work as you complete it. For future deadlines with the portfolio, please make sure you have the work completed within the document and ready for me to view. Profe
Queridos alumnos,
Great start to your portfolio today in class! I am thrilled to see the reflective work you have completed based on your growth in unit one. Your work on unit one will form part of your larger year-long portfolio, so be sure to save this document with all of the evidence in your Google Drive. Please complete your first portfolio entry by Friday, September 30th. One quick reminder: I noticed some groups did not see the Unit One "I-Can Statements document that is required to complete the portfolio. Below, please find a copy of the statements:
Queridos estudiantes lindos, I am so proud of you for the work you have done this week. The four parts to our first evaluation (grammar, interpersonal, interpretive, and productive) have been challenging. However, you all have shown perseverance and determination in your work. I look forward to giving you feedback and starting our next unit! As you know, we will be starting unit two on Monday. In this unit you will be learning food and diet vocabulary, as well as developing interpersonal communication skills around ordering food and describing what you are eating. We will also be reviewing communication about the past. In order to prepare for the rigorous work ahead, you will begin our unit with some goal setting. Download the document "Unit Reflection and Goals" and complete both sections. Be sure to spend at least 30 minutes reflecting and completing this activity. Print out your work and bring it to class on Monday September 26th, 2016. This will be your first grade in Unit Two. I look forward to reading your reflections and starting our next unit! Un abrazo fuerte, Profe Pearson
Hola chicos, La tarea para la casa es terminar los dos párrafos que escribimos en clase. Por favor, vean el documento PDF adjunto a esta entrada. ¡Gracias por su trabajo duro! Profe
Hola a todos,
I write to congratulate you on all of the hard work up you have completed up to now. Your hard work is evident in the high-quality assignments, honest reflections, and growth in your ability to communicate in Spanish! I hope that you find my feedback useful on your first two written evaluations. However, I understand that some may still feel unsure about the mistakes that I have underlined. Please feel free to each out in any of the following ways to get some extra explanation or tutoring:
Finally, please remember the following deadlines:
Please continue to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. Also, give me your feedback and communicate when you feel stressed or overwhelmed about anything in class. This class is our class, and I am always looking for ways to make it better meet your needs. ¡Nos vemos! Profe Pearson |
