Students did the research comparing and contrasting Spanish dishes. They wrote their findings in the target language and took turns presenting it to the class also in the target language.

We were surprised by how well the routines were established and so the kids knew what to do. We noticed that you had by in from the majority of the class, so the students were all motivated. We are wondering if you explicitly taught them to mimic your movements.

#6. We are interested in the classroom management piece of this video. What was the rest of the class engaged in while you worked with this sub group?

We were surprised at the students ability to actually talk about the grammar. They first produce the language and then undertake the process of editing/correction with the assistance of the teacher. The use of the whiteboard was very effective allowing the students to create a visible, correctable, work-in-progress.

Students were using their own work as examples to learn from. Students were self correcting and reflecting. Fully engaged and self assess.

There was interaction with the students on how to improve the city. Grammar with a purpose.

Currently ReadingAs I work toward developing the perseverance and drive to achieve my goals, I am reading Grit by Angela Duckworth. My biggest learning so far has been the importance of identifying and defining my inner compass, "...the thing that takes you some time to build, tinnier with, and finally get right, and then that guides you on your long and winding road to where, ultimately, you want to be" (p. 60). I use this compass to set goals, plan my daily actions, and reflect. Archives
